Saturday 4th July should be a great day for shoppers and retailers in Shrewsbury as we celebrate the variety of independently owned stores in Town. There’s been a really enthusiastic take up from the Town’s shops: we’re 
struggling to keep up with all the offers coming in!
It’s the first time that Shrewsbury’s retailers have got together to promote the Town as a whole, although we are following in the footsteps (copying!) an initiative on Wyle Cop last year. I don’t know about my colleagues, but I get a little despondent when customers tell us how surprised they are about the amazing shops they’ve found in Shrewsbury. I share their delight in the range and quality of the shops, but surprised? It shouldn’t be such a secret, and our aim is to get the message out.
Although this website was initially intended to keep retailers informaed about what’s going on, it seems pretty clear that it will work just as well for people wanting to know what going on – on Independents Day right now, but maybe wanting to know a bit more about what Shrewsbury’s shops, eating and drinking places have to offer all year round. Once the dust has settled on Independents’ Day, we’ll need to get together to decide where we are taking this.
